More Eco-Friendly Americans are Making a Final Statement
by Planning a ‘Green’ Burial
A green burial is one in which no embalming chemicals are used and viewings may be optional. The casket, if used at all, is made of biodegradable materials, and shrouds are made of natural materials. The body is buried at a site that is surrounded by a forest of trees or sea of wildflowers instead of a carpet of grass that has to be mowed and covered with pesticides. Eventually, the body naturally decomposes and is recycled into the elements.
